Economic Status of India
[ send me this paper ]
This 15 page report discusses India’s
various economic situations and addresses a variety of issues and
concerns such as working conditions, foreign investment, and
historical precedence for contemporary situations. In 1997,
India marked the fiftieth anniversary of the nation’s
independence. Economic reforms implemented throughout the 1990s
and carried out by the Indian government have been remarkable
given the prevailing attitude among numerous social scientists,
politicians, and economic analysts that such reforms would be
impossible to implement. However, social programs have not
succeeded in conquering the nation’s rampant poverty.

Pakistan and India’s Dispute over Kashmir
[ send me this paper ]
This 7 page report discusses the long-running dispute between the nations of India and Pakistan regarding the state of Kashmir. Kashmir was one of the “loose ends left dangling” when the British Empire came apart at the seams. At the time of the 1947 partition of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan, more than 560 states had to
join one of the two new nations. Kashmir has always been in dispute with a third of the contested area absorbed into Pakistan as Azad (“free”) Kashmir. Because it is India’s only predominantly
Muslim state, the issue has accelerated into something akin to another holy war. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Patriarchal Bargaining In India & The US
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. While patriarchal bargaining seems very strange to us, not only is it the tradition in India, it is a tradition that is practiced routinely and with fervor. Any business aspiring to invest in India must understand that though patriarchal bargaining is not our way, it is theirs. US companies investing in India must remember that they essentially are guests in the country, and as such, owe it to their hosts to make concessions to India's old traditions without necessarily embracing them. Survival of the Zoroastrians of India
[ send me this paper ]
This 12 page report
discusses the Zoroastrians of India (also known as the Paris or
Parsees), who fled from Persia in the Middle Ages to protect
their beliefs from the spread of Islam. The founder of their
religion was the prophet Zoroaster (Zarathushtra). The increasing
complexities of modern society have also deeply affected the
Zoroastrians, who like most deeply religious groups that exist
outside of the mainstream of life, have been susceptible to the
overpowering and transformative power of modern life.
