Women and the California Gold Rush
[ send me this paper ]
15 pages in length. a
fascinating account of the little-told stories of the women that
were in California at the time of the gold rush. Contrary to
popular belief, not all of them were saloon girls and
prostitutes; there were some who had legitimate businesses such
as boarding houses and laundries, and others were searching for
gold themselves. All in all, the women have a fascinating tale
to tell as well, and it is all too often forgotten. Bibliography
lists 6 sources.
